My kitchen has a very unusual setup (the house is from the 70’s). You enter it from the hallway and then pass to the bathroom and the living room, and in the corner there is a stove with braziers (I rarely use it, but I want to leave it there as an additional heat source). Preferably, I’d remove the bathroom entrance but for now it’s impossible due to the stairs to the upper floor located by the hallways, and a renovation that this fact involves. What bothers me more is the current randomness of furniture placement. I dream of a modern kitchen in yellow and light wood (the tiled stove and planked ceiling are white), as well as a big table by the window (I like to receive visitors in the kitchen). I love cooking and baking. Sink and dishwasher have to be by the wall with the bathroom (because of the sanitary system) Please help! J.N.
Houses from the 70’s are often characterized by either a long and cumbersome kitchen or a pass-through kitchen we’re dealing with here. Apart from being of double-exit design, the kitchen also has quite unusual shape, and an additional element of its décor is the tiled stove. It so happens in older houses that we have no control over the location of riser vents and their potential relocation involves considerable expenses. The advantage of this kitchen are the two windows shedding more light on the interior.
OPTION 1.
My first proposition is a timeless, beautiful and versatile white kitchen. The white fronts and white countertops will look beautiful against the darker floor in the shades of brown or grey. If the kitchen was to be more classic, I would propose wooden floor. The kitchen utensils form a functional working triangle. On the wall portion by the entrance I put a hob with a cooker hood. A large countertop emerged by the window, well-lit by the window opening. I’d put the fridge in the corner between the windows. The kitchen is completed by a comfortable table, which also can serve as a place to prepare meals. The white of the fronts will beautifully reflect the light going into the interior. Yellow accessories and chairs will brighten the interior (you can also go as far as making one of the walls yellow).
OPTION 2.
The second solution could be called triple-layered latte. Combining a wooden, chocolate countertop with light wood kitchen cabinets and finishing it with bright walls and white ceiling. At the entrance to the kitchen, there is a storage area with a large refrigerator and cupboards, and in the corner by the window – hob and oven. Sink and dishwasher, like in the previous version, due to the riser vents, are located by the tiled stove. The table situated in the center of the kitchen by the window functions here as an island kitchen. It’s not only a perfect place for family meals and meetings with friends. It also functions as a place for meal preparation.
